Taos Common Grounds
A Youth‑Led Space for Belonging, Creativity, and Connection
Taos Common Grounds is a youth‑led, community‑backed initiative created to meet a critical need in Northern New Mexico: a safe, welcoming, and inclusive place for youth and young adults ages 14–24 to gather, create, and feel supported.
Born from the voices of local youth in the wake of profound community loss, Common Grounds exists to ensure young people in Taos have a space where they feel safe, seen, and valued. With renovations nearly complete and strong community partnerships in place, we are preparing to fully open our doors.
Why Common Grounds Is Needed
Youth in Taos County and surrounding rural communities face significant barriers, including high rates of poverty, geographic isolation, limited access to supportive services, and a lack of free, inclusive spaces to safely gather. Many young people are navigating trauma, family instability, or marginalization related to identity, often without consistent support.
While many systems respond once youth are already in crisis, Taos Common Grounds is intentionally preventative and proactive. We offer a welcoming hub where young people can build relationships, explore creativity, access resources, and receive support before challenges escalate.
DreamTree Project serves as the fiscal sponsor for Taos Common Grounds, providing financial oversight, administrative support, and organizational infrastructure. This partnership allows Common Grounds to focus on youth-led programming while operating with strong accountability and sustainability.
