Planning Consultant

Job Summary

Make a difference in Taos, by developing an AmeriCorps program to place youth at non-profits. Youth learn job skills, non-profits expand their capacity, and people in Taos receive needed services to address housing, employment, healthcare, and more.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Explore and build partnerships with non-profit service agencies.

  • Assess potential placement sites for AmeriCorps members.

  • Gather information and recommend best fit for program model to operate in Taos.

  • Write plan for AmeriCorps program operations, including policies and procedures and performance measurement.

  • Create and customize documentation needed for implementing AmeriCorps program.

  • Communicate regularly with state program manager.

  • Other duties as determined necessary for successful program implementation.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Excellent written communication

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Excellent computer skills, specifically word processing and spreadsheets

  • Knowledge of local community and of non-profits working to address poverty

  • Education and experience in: planning, social work, business, and/or organizational development

  • Works well to deadlines

  • Experience with AmeriCorps, community planning, and/or workforce development preferred

This is a term contract position, from September 1, 2019 to August 31, 2020, funded through an AmeriCorps planning grant from the Department of Workforce Solutions.

Teen Service Specialist- Substitute

Taos, NM 87571

$12.50 - $22.00 an hour - Part-time

Job Summary

Supervise teens, including teaching life skills and taking to activities. May work a variety of shifts (8 a.m. - 4 p.m., 2:30 p.m. - 10 p.m., 4 p.m. - midnight, midnight - 8 a.m.). Must attend weekly staff training Tuesday 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

Responsibilities and Duties - Primary

  • Conduct intake and discharge interviews with residents.

  • Supervise youth in accordance with DreamTree Project policies and procedures.

  • Plan / participate in daily activities, including meals, chores, and recreational activities.

  • Complete all shift documentation, including but not limited to logs, notes, incident reports, and consequence contracts.

  • Perform urinalysis tests as required.

  • Transport youth in agency vehicles to appointments, activities, school, and other venues.

  • Answer the agency phone and cell phone, including checking voicemail and returning calls promptly.

  • Attend scheduled meetings with Program Supervisor and weekly staff meetings.

  • Communicate facility maintenance needs promptly.

  • Maintain facility security (e.g., lock and close all doors and windows when leaving).

  • Maintain clean driving record based on DreamTree Project insurance requirements.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities and Duties - Overnight

  • Maintain security, including a nightly walk of the property, responding to calls from youth, and checking youth in rooms at least once a night.

  • Follow-up on any youth absences, including re-checking rooms and communicating with Program Director, law enforcement, and parent/guardian.

  • Prepare and maintain files and blank forms.

  • Prepare daily schedule, including activities, menu, and appointments.

  • Check youth in shelter rooms every 10 to 20 minutes throughout the shift.

  • Prepare breakfast

  • School transports in the morning along with other appointments

  • Other duties as assigned.

Case Manager/Service Coordinator

Job Summary

Support teens and young adults in achieving their goals, by creating, implementing, and monitoring their plans. Use knowledge of social services and behavioral health to assess needs and provide interdisciplinary care. Coordinate life skills classes and Youth Action Board.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Maintain clear, complete, and timely file documentation for each youth.

  • Meet with incoming residents, and parent/guardians, to complete intake paperwork.

  • Meet with each participant to set and review goals in individually-designed Personal/Transition/Self-Sufficiency Plans, focusing on education, employment, good tenancy, health, accessing mainstream benefits, and life skills.

  • Meet with each participant at a minimum once a week to monitor youth progress toward goals and to support youth with barriers and setbacks and coach them toward successful accomplishment of each goal.

  • Provide transportation under exceptionalcircumstances only (i.e., initial orientation, appointments that mandate DTP presence, scheduled group activities, and urgent medical situations).

  • Implement program rules and policies, including creating appropriate behavioral contracts when needed.

  • Perform urinalysis tests as required.

  • Perform apartment/room searches for prohibited items as scheduled and as needed.

  • Conduct exit interviews with youth.

  • Maintain satisfactory working relationships with representatives of employers, area schools, colleges, GED programs, financial aid counselors, parent/guardians, behavioral health partners, and other persons essential to success.

  • Attend meetings as scheduled.

  • Coordinate youth activities (e.g., independent living skills classes, community events, purchasing supplies).

  • Coordinate and support Youth Action Board as a youth leadership group providing guidance to programs.

  • Participate in the on-call phone rotation schedule.

  • Maintain clean driving record based on DreamTree Project insurance requirements.

  • Participate in other duties as assigned.
