Courtyard Design by Ed Fenzl of Living Light Landscapes Detailed Description of the Project
There are five processes being developed to ensure a successful project:
1) a rainwater catchment system is being completed
2) a low volume automatic drip system will be installed
3) regionally appropriate drought tolerant and low maintenance plants
have been selected for installation
4) a cyclical and seasonal landscape maintenance plan has been developed and
5) best horticultural management practices will be employed for lowest impact
on the environment and the most effective care of the plants.
The anticipated schedule of activities is tentatively proposed for installation in the months of April and May 2007, weather permitting. DreamTree Project is committed to implementation of the therapeutic landscape design and will work in partnership with Ed Fenzl who has committed his expertise and leadership throughout the project's implementation. A maintenance schedule has been developed which our maintenance staff and youth participants will complete.
Completed landscaping in the Courtyard behind the main buildings will provide a central gathering place for youth in the "main house" and youth in the Casitas. Group Therapy sessions will be held in the courtyard and it will be a place where youth can feel part of nature.
